Graduate Application - Help

The following information will assist you to complete the official UCR Graduate Application:

Items on application pages that are presented in red italics are required fields.

Please click on the info icon located on various pages throughout the application; the icon provides context-sensitive assistance as you complete your application.

Please provide as much information as possible: this will enable UCR faculty and staff to evaluate your application along with your supporting documents and reach an admissions decision as soon as possible. Please click here for Technical Tips and Notes.

Technical Considerations (top)

Browsers & Operating Systems
UC Riverside has extensively tested the online graduate application system to ensure its stability and compatibility with a variety of browsers and operating systems. While applicants may choose to access the application with any browser, we can recommend the following browsers as tested and certified to work with Grad SIS:

  • Internet Explorer 10, 9, 8 and 7
 
Mozilla Firefox
  • Firefox 7 through 25 on Windows
  • Firefox 7 through 25 on Mac OS
 
Safari
  • Safari 3.0/2.0 on Mac OS
 
Please note that Grad SIS is NOT certified to work with Safari above version 3 on Mac OS X or with Google Chrome. This does not mean that these browsers will not work with Grad SIS, but UC Riverside has not adequately tested these browsers to certify support for them. Users of either browser who have difficulties with using Grad SIS may download the free Firefox browser, which is certified to work with Grad SIS.

Pop-Up Blockers
The online graduate application is an electronic application system, but it also provides for the printing of application forms and data by applicants. PDFs are the ideal document format for printing forms and data, and we provide PDF versions of most documents for applicants to print.
Accessing these PDF documents requires users to disable their pop-up blocker for at least the ucr.edu domain. Directions for disabling pop-up blockers for a number of different browsers can be found below. Applicants who do not wish to disable their pop-up blockers can print the HTML versions of all documents.

General Information / Degree Program (top)
There are required fields on this page. Please enter your email address and your first, last and middle names. Foreign applicants must enter their name as it appears on their passport. Complete all information under Graduate Program. Only the terms available for this program are displayed. When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. After confirming the information you will be taken back to the Main Application Page to proceed to the next section.

Biographical Information (top)
There are required fields on this page. Please enter information about yourself: current address, permanent address, contact information, etc. Depending on what information is provided, an additional supplemental information page will be added to your application. When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. After confirming the information you will be taken back to the Main Application Page to proceed to the next section.

Scholastic Information (top)
There are required fields on this page. You are required to provide information about all institutions attended (no exceptions) since high school (secondary school). Omitting institutions attended may be considered deny your application. Please note that you must provide UCR with transcripts from these institutions as part of the application process. If you have attended multiple institutions, please complete the information for the most recent school attended and click on the "Add Another Institution" button. Do this for every institution attended back to high school (secondary school). Please do NOT provide information about high schools attended. When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. After confirming the information you will be taken back to the Main Application Page to proceed to the next section

Test Scores (top)
Please provide information concerning required graduate entrance exams (specifically the GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS or TSE exams). Please note that while you may submit an application without reporting these test scores, a decision on your application cannot be made without submission of required official score reports. It is the applicant's responsibility to request official score reports from the Educational Testing Service (ETS). When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. After confirming the information you will be taken back to the Main Application Page to proceed to the next section.

Reference Information (top)
There are required fields on this page. Please provide information about THREE references you will provide in support of your application for graduate admission. At least two of the references must be academic references (current or former professors) who are familiar with your academic background. When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. After confirming the information you will be taken back to the Main Application Page to proceed to the next section.

UCR Faculty Contacts (top)
If you have contacted or interacted with UCR faculty, we encourage you to provide us with information about these contacts. This assists us to consolidate all correspondence and reference information. When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. Additional Information (top)
There are required fields on this page. Please indicate if you are currently enrolled in course work or expect to complete additional study prior to registration at UCR. Statement of Purpose & Personal History Statement (top)
There are required fields on this page. This section allows you an opportunity to tell us about yourself, your academic goals, research interests, and career objectives. This is a very important aspect of your application; we encourage you to provide thoughtful responses to items 1 through 3 . You may provide a Curriculum Vita or Resume in the Additional Information field. When you have finished, please click on the CONTINUE button to advance to the data verification page. After confirming the information you will be taken back to the Main Application Page to proceed to the next section.

Supplementary Fellowship Application Information - Domestic Applicants ONLY. (top)
Completing information on this page is optional, but US citizens and US Permanent Residents are highly encouraged to provide as much information as possible. This allows us to consider you for all available financial awards. Once you have finished inputting this data, please click on the SAVE AND NEXT button to move to the next web page.

Confidential Financial Statement International Applicants ONLY. (top)
There are required fields on this page. International (non-domestic) applicants are required to complete this web page. Please note that this page contains forms that must be downloaded and sent to the university. UCR will not be able to make an admissions decision without submission of these forms. Application Fee (top)
There are required fields on this page. Please indicate on this page that you acknowledge the application fee requirement. Applications are not reviewed or considered unless the application fee requirement is satisfied.

This web page displays all the information you have entered. Please review it carefully. Click the "Printer Friendly" link to generate a PDF of your application. This may be printed for your records.

Submit My Application (top)
You must certify that the information provided on the application is truthful and accurate to the best of your knowledge. You are certifying that you have attended NO institutions other than those listed in the application and that you are aware that admission can be denied or reversed if falsification of records is found. The application processing fee is not refundable for any reason. All submitted records are not returnable.
